Bonjour les Parents,
Today was a beautiful day with a clear sky and no clouds, It was my last day from staying at my host family’s mountain house near Mont Blanc. While it was sad, waking up to the view of the mountain was insanely beautiful.
As a food connoisseur myself, I woke up to a solid breakfast featuring brioche with nuts and praline sprinkled on top. Now, the past 7 breakfasts were amazing; I got to try different breads and jams, but today was a super special day. The moment I had my first bite, it was as if I’d gotten 100 on a test without studying 一 the brioche was super sweet while maintaining that feeling you would get from eating bread; unfortunately the brioche was so good that I had forgotten to take a picture of it, so please enjoy the view of the mountain while picturing a brioche cake sprinkled with praline.
After packing and putting everything into the car, we took a fun trip to the town of Megève to explore, and "Oh wow," were the first two words I muttered, as the view was incredible. It was amazing how they kept the vibe medieval while also offering an assortment of modern stores, and let’s not forget Mont Blanc in the back, absolutely breathtaking!
After the short sightseeing tour, we head back the the house to do a final scan and have lunch. Lunch today was simple beef and tomato. I must say wow…. The tomato and all the fruits here are so sweet and fresh. It was delicious. The beef was very well complimented by the caramelized onion. Absolutely delicious. After I devoured lunch, it was time for dessert 一 strawberries. I only had one comment with this: “Why now?” The strawberries were so amazing I started to question if what I had eaten were really strawberries and not some chemically induced sweets that tasted like it. The strawberries added a nice aftertaste and also was a grand way to end lunchtime.
After that, we packed up everything, did one final scan, and prepared for a 2-hour trip home. I obviously fell asleep quickly listening to some fire tunes like Frank Sinatra’s "Fly Me to the Moon" or Harvard Gin and Tonic’s "Copacabana." Before we arrived home, I woke up from my dream about eating snacks and drinking coconut juice.
Once home, I took all my stuff and left it upstairs, including my dead phone which is why I couldn’t take a picture of tonight’s dinner. Speaking of dinner, tonight was pesto noodles and sausages paired with water and a piece of bread. Absolutely delicious if you ask me 一 everything just pairs up so well together. We finished dinner with some cheese. I tried a little bit of each of the eleven types of cheese, and I must say, blue cheese is insanely strong but good. After dinner, I took a quick shower and... yeah, that’s my day for today.
À la prochaine fois,
Logan Dinh
