Today was our last full day in Lyon, and one could definitely feel the emotional weight of that as an undercurrent to our day. Thankfully, we had a packed itinerary, challenging us all to remain present and continuously curious to discover the city that has been our home for the last two weeks. 8:00 We began our day at Lycée Saint-Marc , not as a group, but by following our host students to their first two classes — one hour each. While I have no pictures to offer for this, there are a couple cultural differences that we got to experience that are worth noting. First, instead of students changing classrooms between periods, as we do in the United States, French students remain in their seats; teachers move between classrooms, meaning that students remain with the same group for each subject. Today I woke up at 6:45. I had a light breakfast of some toast and jam, along with a coffee au lait. I left the house to go to the metro, and then walked from the metro to school.  Once I got to school, we had a class discussion with Mr. Ahern and Ms. McGrath, along with Madame Safsef, the English teacher here at Lycée Saint Marc. We talked about the differences in culture and life between France and the US, and how those differences changed our view on life here in Lyon. I said that one major difference was the time that they ate dinner, much later than what would be typical in the US. After the discussion, we walked to the metro to go to the Groupama Stadium, the main soccer stadium in Lyon. We took the metro to the terminus, then took a tram to the stadium.  Once at the stadium, we took some photos and met up with our tour guide,Thibault, who took us inside. Today we began our day at Lycée Saint Marc and then took the metro to the Bernachon chocolate factory, where we observed all the stations that are crucial to constructing their world class delicacies. Following the tour, we were invited to try an array of the chocolates that they offer, accompanied by a mug of rich hot chocolate. After browsing Bernachon’s selection of chocolates for sale, we made our way to the Parc Tête d’Or where we stopped briefly to take in the impressive landscape and statues. We then took the metro back to Lycée Saint Marc and coordinated our lunch plans. After having a quick bite at the cafeteria, a group of students and I headed over to Faiparla, a small deli style restaurant, and grabbed some awesome sandwiches. Upon arrival back at Saint Marc, we walked over to the boat tour on the Saône river. Bonjour Les Parents,  Comment ça va?  Today’s weather was rainy and wet with gray, heavy clouds. Coming from a long weekend trip with my host family to Mont-Blanc in the French Alps, I can’t believe it is the first day of our last week here in Lyon. Although our time in this beautiful city is slowly coming to an end, we are making the best of the time we have left. Today I woke up around 6h30 to get ready for school.  On the way to school, I stopped by the boulangerie near Lycée Saint Marc and enjoyed a brioche au chocolat. From 8h00 to 10h00 we reviewed la terminaison du verbe avec le présent simple, future simple, and the imparfait. After that, we identified whether words in French were masculine or feminine. Shortly after we practiced our plurals and the participe passé de ces verbes. Later in the morning, we visited the museum of small figures. Nous sommes arrivés a 11h00 et sommes partis a 12h30.
